What's ORGANIC?
Organic horticulture and market gardening are really the true roots of all growing methods. Until the early 20th Century, when chemical-based, mass harvest methodology was developed, the sole way to nurture and produce food and plants was by natural means.
Organic techniques are traditional. It is entirely in the Twentieth century that non-organic, chemical methodology have really become the norm. In contrast to traditional techniques of pest control, organic horticulture tends to tolerate some pest populations while taking the long view. A garden is more than just a means of providing food, it is a model of what is possible in your community - everyone could have a garden of some kind (container, growing box, raised bed) and produce healthy, nutritious organic food - promoting a more sustainable way of living that would encourage their local economy - a farmers market, a place to pass on gardening experience, and a sharing of bounty.
Herb Garden Organic FertilizerMany people believe growing their flowers and vegetables organically is healthier for them and their environment. It is natural that you ..... Eat locally grown, in season farm produce if at all possible (whether organic or not). It is much more likely to have been picked RIPE, and therefore richer in nutrients.
